ESPN has dropped their 2024 NBA Mock Draft, and plenty of Australian and NBL-based talent features.

The dust has hardly settled on the 2023 NBA Draft, but the world of basketball keeps moving onwards – and ESPN’s first major 2024 mock draft has dropped.

Plenty of talent set to suit up in NBL24 look set to earn an NBA home in 12 months’ time, meaning Australian fans should watch these young stars in action while they’re still on our shores.

Duke's Tyrese Proctor is currently leading the class of exceptional Australian and NBL-based talent heading into next season, and the guard is currently projected to earn status as a lottery selection at the 12th pick.

AJ Johnson was slated as the 13th pick in the draft when he joined the Illawarra Hawks as a Next Star and, although his stock has fallen slightly, he’s still a firm chance to be named as a top 20 selection. He’s currently ranked two places ahead of Bronny James at pick 16.

Proctor leads a pair of NBL Next Stars who are primed to be selected in the top 20. AJ Johnson is currently slated to be taken just outside the lottery with pick 16, while Perth's Alexandre Sarr is currently estimated to be selected juts three spots later with the 19th pick.

Cairns’ Bobi Klintman was firming as a mid-second round pick in the 2023 draft before decommitting to join the Taipans. That decision already looks to be working in his favour and he is currently predicted to be selected with the 25th pick.

New Zealand’s Mantas Rubstavicius is firming as a likely second round selection. The 21-year-old Lithuanian is currently predicted to be selected with the 49th pick.

Next Stars Alex Toohey and Ariel Hukporti currently sit outside ESPN's predicted draft selections, but could easily force themselves into the reckoning over the next 12 months, as can young guns Josh Bannan, David Okwera, Taran Armstrong and Sam Mennenga.
