"Getting that video was the tipping point for me, just being able to see about Adelaide, how this was as a program – it was a no brainer after that."

Highly touted NBA Draft prospect Trentyn Flowers has revealed the Adelaide 36ers’ rich history played a key role in his decision to join the NBL.

In an interview for the club’s new app, Flowers said a move to Australia and the NBL provided him with the best chance to achieve his dream of being drafted.

He also paid tribute to the achievements of other success stories of the league’s Next Stars program, including Josh Giddey and LaMelo Ball, as well as trailblazer Terrance Ferguson, who was the first high school prospect to opt for the NBL over the more traditional collegiate program.

But for Flowers, it was the recruitment process that ultimately made his mind up.

36ers coach CJ Bruton sent Flowers a video on the club’s rich history, and the point guard quickly become “all in for Adelaide”.

“Getting that video was the tipping point for me, just being able to see about Adelaide, how this was as a program – it was a no brainer after that,” Flowers said.

“Being able to see the club history, winning a bunch of championships, I’m a winner and I want to be a part of a winning culture, and then I saw Giddey and Ferguson, so that sealed the deal for me.”

Flowers made his debut in Adelaide colours during its pre-season win over the South East Melbourne Phoenix last week, finishing with 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

He’s currently projected as a first-round 2024 NBA Draft selection by many experts.
