Worldwide eyes will be on Alexandre Sarr as he commences his NBL journey this season, and the Overtime Elite graduate will be given an early opportunity to impress NBA scouts when Perth travels to Las Vegas to take on the NBA G-League Ignite next week.

Next Star Sarr is currently projected to be a first-round selection in the 2024 NBA Draft – and solid showings against the Ignite and over the course of the NBL season will only increase his stature in the standings.

He’s set to lock horns with potential top two picks Matas Buzelis and Ron Holland when the Wildcats face the Ignite, but Sarr says he’s not worrying about his own draft projections or the high presence of high-level scouts.

“The last two years there have [been] more scouts than before, but it won’t have been as much as it will be this year,” Sarr told The West Australian.

“It’s exciting, but I’m more focused on the team. I’m not focused on other prospects, it’s about us becoming a better team.

“I want to focus more on NBL24 than anything else.

“I’m getting used to the new team, new country and new city. It’s pretty cool.”

Perth plays the G-League Ignite on September 7 and September 9 before returning to Australia for the Hungry Jack’s NBL Blitz.
