NBL25's class of Next Stars is looming as one of the top groups of emerging hoops talent anywhere in the world. Stay informed as to how each of the competition's brightest stars played on the weekend with NBL Media's Next Stars Wrap.
In a loss at home to Adelaide, Alex Toohey and the Sydney Kings didn’t show up for the fight and were blown away by Kendric Davis and Montrezl Harrell. On the bright side, the Australian Next Star has now recorded 10 steals across his past four games and currently ranks inside the top 5 in the NBL for STL%.
Izan Almansa started for the sixth consecutive game and was a standout in Perth’s big win over Adelaide. He went 5/8 from the field and knocked down another three pointer: showing a much-improved shooting stroke, Almansa has made 7 of his past 14 three-point field goal attempts and is just under 40% 3PT on the season.
Rocco Zikarsky was inactive for the Brisbane Bullets this round due to mild knee soreness.
Karim Lopez returned to action this week after sitting out his team’s Christmas Day game with a mild ankle sprain. He recorded 7 points and 6 rebounds in 15 minutes and contributed to the Breakers’ win in Cairns.
The South East Melbourne Phoenix are now 10-4 since hiring Josh King and moving Malique Lewis to the starting lineup. They were able to beat the Hawks in Wollongong in Round 14 as they continue to push for a Finals spot after their disastrous start to the NBL25 campaign.
