Sydney Kings’ forward Alex Toohey made his return to the starting lineup on Sunday, when the Perth Wildcats made their trip to Qudos Bank Arena. The Next Star had one of the most efficient outing you can ask for: Toohey ended the game with 23 points in 26 minutes, shooting 9-of-11 from the floor and 2-3 from beyond the arc. He also added 5 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 assists.

Toohey’s effort was not enough to stop the Wildcats, who secured two major wins in Round 19 beating both the Phoenix and the Kings. Izan Almansa was moved to the second unit; in limited minutes, he brought his energy and rim-running activity to help the team succeed. 

Mexican sensation Karim Lopez scored once again in double digit during the Breakers’ home win against Cairns at Spark Arena. The Next Star finished with 11 points on 2-5 shooting from three, a sign of his continued progress from beyond the arc. 

South East Melbourne competed in two of the most intense games of the round; while they came up short in Perth giving up a big lead, they were able to come out on top against Adelaide on Sunday. Malique Lewis had 14 points and 6 rebounds combined in the two games, confirming his key role off the bench for the Phoenix.
