The former Next Star keeps shining for the Washington Wizards in his first NBA season.

Alexandre Sarr, the French big man who stood out in the NBL24 season with the Perth Wildcats, has shown his potential since moving to the NBA as the #2 Draft pick by the Washington Wizards in June. In December, he took his game to another level and was awarded the Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. 

Last month, Sarr led all rookies in points (13.8), three-pointers (2.2), and blocks (1.7) per game, while also leading all Eastern Conference rookies in rebounds per game (6.3). Sarr shot .455 from three, the best percentage of any rookie with at least 40 three-point attempts in December. 

His 1.8 blocks per game ranks first among all rookies and sixth overall in the league. The former Next Star becomes Washington’s first Rookie of the Month selection since Bradley Beal won the award in January 2013, and the 11th selection in franchise history.
