"We will now work with him and his agent to find the best fit moving forward.”

The NBL will work with Next Star Roman Siulepa to find a new team after a mutual parting of ways with the Tasmania JackJumpers.

The emerging Aussie talent joined the reigning NBL champions in early June, however Siulepa and the JackJumpers have since been unable to align on their respective priorities.

Siulepa has a desire to fulfill his remaining high school commitments, including completing the rugby season, and is currently carrying some injuries. Due to the tight timelines this pre-season, it’s been determined he will need more time to prepare for the upcoming NBL season, and will therefore look to join another team.

“We’ve held some really good discussions with the JackJumpers, Roman, and his agent and feel this is the best path forward for everyone,” GM of Next Stars Recruitment Liam Santamaria said.

“Roman has enormous potential as one of the most talented youngsters in Australian basketball and he is keen to continue his journey as a Next Star. We remain committed to helping him take those big first steps in his professional career.”

The search for a new NBL home for Siulepa will begin immediately.

“We would like to thank the JackJumpers for their support of Roman to this point,” Santamaria added.

“However, with his Next Stars recruitment now re-opened, an opportunity exists for a new team to work with Roman. We will now work with him and his agent to find the best fit moving forward.”
