The comeback from an Achilles rupture is one of the most difficult in professional sport, but the genetic anomaly that is Ariel Hukporti looks primed to return to the court better than ever.

The German Next Star missed the entirety of Melbourne’s NBL23 campaign after suffering the season-ending injury at the pre-season Blitz, but United’s lead physio Steve McAdam says Hukporti is primed for an explosive return to the NBL floor.

“Some people have to absolutely put in crazy amounts of work in the weight room to get a small change, but he’s more in the category that he looks at weights and the muscle starts coming on,” McAdam told News Corp.

“The amount he can squat, he’s the strongest on the team – comfortably 200kg for multiple reps – then he’ll get straight out on the court and be ready to go.

“I think we’ll see him being clearly one of the strongest in the league.”
